History & About Us
Established in 1850's, The Barossa Barn is one of the original properties built in the historic town of Penrice and originally used as an ox/horse barn.
The outbuilding which is currently used as the B&B was also built in the mid to late 1990's, carefully designed to maintain a similar rustic feel of the 1850's. This double story cottage gives you the feeling of yesteryear, yet has been packed with all the modern conveniences for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
The Barossa Valley is renowned for having some of the best food, wine and culture, yet has so much more to offer. Come and taste the local produce at the Farmers market followed by an afternoon tasting Barossa's best at the local wineries and admiring the calming landscape.
Proprietors Neil and Julie Houghton purchased the property with a vision to create a unique Barossa experience for their guests.
" We had a vision to move to the Barossa Valley and operate a boutique B&B and were excited to find this historic property.
We are both passionate about this property and the Barossa, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We invite you to 'live like a Barossan,' even for just a short time.
Come and share this beautiful experience with us! "
We look forward to meeting you and providing you with a comfortable and relaxing stay.
- Neil & Julie Houghton -
We were greeted by Julie and welcomed to the Barossa Barn. The first impression was WOW. The photos don't do justice to the warm and sophisticated feeling of this listing. We had a fantastic stay. Julie & Neil have thought of everything, lots of information, great facilities, a most comfortable bed, even Foxtel with all the HD movie channels etc. The breakfast vouchers were also excellent, entitling us to a delicious cooked breakfast at a nearby cafe. The location was also excellent. A perfect centre point to our daily excursions around the Barossa wineries. Special mention: try to have dinner at Ferment Asian. A delightful experience with 5 star service.
